Optima
Spiral-wound AGM — RedTop for starting, YellowTop for dual-purpose duty.
Search Optima ↗Twenty-one North American car battery brands side by side — who actually makes each one, the product lines it sells, the chemistries on offer and the free-replacement warranty the maker publishes. Facts only: no prices, no ratings, no rankings.
Most North American car-battery labels come out of a small number of factories.
That is why the same factory ships many labels: a retailer or carmaker sets the specification and the warranty, and one of these makers builds the battery that carries the label. A store brand's actual manufacturer can vary by group size and region, and makers do not always publicly confirm supply contracts — those cases are flagged in the entries below.
One row per brand; the sections below carry the full detail behind each cell.
Warranty figures are the free-replacement period published by the maker or retailer, as found in October 2026 — except where a cell says prorated, defect or limited. Where a figure could not be confirmed from a maker or retailer page, it is marked unverified rather than filled in. Brand-level terms vary by line, model and market; the label on the specific battery governs.

| Maker / parent | Interstate Battery System of America — a privately held, Dallas-based marketer/distributor founded in 1952. Interstate does not manufacture its own automotive batteries; production is contracted to major manufacturers (Clarios and East Penn are the suppliers most commonly reported — Interstate does not publish a per-model maker list, so treat maker attribution as reported, not confirmed per SKU). |
