Golf cart batteries

Build the pack, not a mismatch

A cart reaches its system voltage by wiring multiple batteries in series. Replace the full matched set unless the manufacturer directs otherwise.

Golf cart battery buying guide

Common carts use 36V or 48V systems assembled from 6V, 8V or 12V batteries. The battery count and voltage must reproduce the cart’s original system, fit the trays and match the charger.

  • Flooded deep-cycle batteries are serviceable and established, but need regular electrolyte checks, terminal cleaning and ventilation.
  • Use distilled water only, add it according to the battery maker’s sequence and never expose plates. Wear eye and skin protection.
  • A lithium conversion changes battery, BMS, charger, cabling and sometimes the state-of-charge display. Confirm the cart controller’s current demand and professional installation requirements.
6V batteriesOften used in larger series strings with robust deep-cycle capacity.
8V batteriesCommon in six-battery 48V cart packs.
12V batteriesFewer cases and connections, but different cycle and current trade-offs.
Matched setKeep age, model and condition consistent across the bank.

Golf cart batteries to compare

Amazon availability for heavy flooded batteries is inconsistent; compare model specifications, then price local delivery and core handling.
