Size the house bank from an energy audit: list each load’s watts, daily hours and inverter losses, then convert the expected daily use into watt-hours. Amp-hours only compare batteries at the same nominal voltage.
- Lead-acid banks should not routinely be discharged as deeply as LiFePO4 banks; usable capacity differs from the label rating.
- A LiFePO4 upgrade may require a compatible converter/charger, solar controller, battery monitor, cold-charge protection and alternator charging hardware.
- Solar panels replenish energy; they do not replace a correctly sized bank. Match panel array, controller voltage/current and battery charge profile.
Plan the whole system.For permanent wiring, large inverters or lithium conversions, have an RV electrical specialist review cable size, fusing, ventilation, isolation and charging sources.
