Return batteries to the right recycling stream.
Read the EPA battery guidance ↗Car batteries
Return lead-acid batteries to an accepted retailer or recycling facility. Ask whether a core charge is refunded when the old battery comes back.
Lithium ride batteries
Do not put e-bike or scooter packs in household trash or curbside recycling. Use a facility that accepts large lithium-ion batteries.
Protect terminals
Prevent terminal contact during transport. Keep packs separated and follow the recycler’s preparation instructions.
Damaged packs
Call the battery maker, local fire service or hazardous-waste program for handling directions. Do not ship or transport a smoking or actively overheating pack.
